Tribal Training and Development oversees the management and distribution of Norton Sound Health Corporation scholarships. Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ offers five scholarships: General Scholarship, Vocational Scholarship, Competitive Scholarship, Doctorate Scholarship, and Employee Scholarship. Our focus is to support regional residents who are pursuing careers that will be employable by Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥. Regional tribally enrolled members are eligible for the general and vocational scholarships regardless of study.

General Scholarship
The Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ scholarship program provides financial assistance to eligible students pursuing higher education in a health-related field. Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ may fund students pursuing a non-medical related degree if the degree helps further the vision and mission of the organization. Indian Health Service beneficiaries from the Bering Strait region who commit to returning to the region and possible employment with Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ will have priority. Apply through the .
Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ awards a TBD amount in the fall and spring terms to qualified students who submit and meet the following requirements:
- Two letters of recommendation (cannot be from family)
- Official transcript
- High school diploma or GED
- Birth certificate
- Student number in writing from your institution
- Acceptance letter from your institution
Stan Andersen Vocational Scholarship
Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ offers a vocational scholarship to eligible students pursuing training in the fields that will help further the mission and vision of the organization. Apply through the . Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ encourages you to apply before the start of the program. Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ awards a TBD amount to qualified students who submit an application and meet the following requirements:
- Two letters of recommendations (cannot be from family)
- Official transcript
- High school diploma or GED
- Birth certificate
- Student number in writing from your institution
- Acceptance letter from your institution
Competitive Scholarship
Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ awards five $5,000 per term scholarships to qualified Alaska Native/Native American students who meet the following requirements:
- Enrolled in a formal education or training program within the healthcare field
- Permanent resident of the Bering Strait region
- Proof of residency; submit one of the following: State of Alaska ID card OR State of Alaska license OR Tribal ID/Enrollment (with current address)
- Applied to and meets the requirements of the Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ My-Cache scholarship
- A personal statement, which should answer all the questions below and should not exceed one page:
- How are you currently involved with the Native community?
- What are your current and future educational goals and professional goals?
- How does your education meet your stated goals?
- How will your stated goals improve the health of Alaska Natives/American Indians?

Doctorate Scholarship
This is a competitive scholarship for individuals that meet the requirements of Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ My-Cache Scholarship Program and are enrolled and studying in a healthcare related field with goals to become a physician, dentist, optometrist, pharmacist, audiologist, or physical therapist for Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥.
The scholarship is available for students studying to attain a doctorate degree with the intent to fill one of the aforementioned positions at Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ for a minimum of three years upon graduation.
Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ awards three $10,000 per term scholarships to qualified students studying to attain a doctorate degree that submit and meet the following requirements:
- Permanent resident of the Bering Strait region
- State of Alaska ID, license, or Tribal ID/enrollment (with current address)
- Applied and met all requirements of the general scholarship
- Personal statement (see competitive scholarship for details)

Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ Employee Scholarship
The Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ Employee Scholarship provides awards to help Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ regular full- and part-time employees pursue higher education to further the organization’s vision and mission.
Continuing education scholarships are only available to regular full-time and part-time employees of Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ who have been employed by Â鶹ÊÓƵֱ²¥ for a minimum of one year prior to applying for a scholarship and remain employed through successful completion of all course work. Employees must submit their latest transcripts and a class schedule.
